James Patrick Kelly
di Danilo Santoni
Nato a Mineola, New York net 1951, attualmente vive a Portsmouth, NH, con la moglie Pamela D. Kelly.
Nel 1972 ha conseguito il Bachelor of Arts per la Letteratura Inglese (magna cum laude) presso la University of Notre Dame.
Ha partecipato al Clarion Writers' workshop nel 1974 e poi di nuovo nel 1976.
Ha pubblicato la sua prima storia nel 1975 e nel 1977 ha abbandonato il lavoro per seguire la carriera di scrittore.
Come autore è conosciuto soprattutto come scrittore di fantascienza, ma ha pubblicato anche opere di diverso genere passando con abilità dall'horror al fantasy alla letteratura mainstream.
Ha avuto una lunga esperienza come insegnante di scrittura nelle scuole e poi è passato ad insegnare al workshop di Clarion.
